The Conservation Council of South Australia Invites you to the fifth of six Summits to develop an environmental blueprint for South Australia: Coast and Marine in a changing climate Over 85% of the species in SA's southern waters occur nowhere else on earth - and these are just the ones we know about! Our marine environment is still relatively unchartered, which only increases the risk of us destroying its diversity, viability and foodchains that support our economy. South Australia's spectacular coastal landscapes are facing threats from marine and land-based activity, as well as sea-level rise from climate change. Come and be part of a vital discussion between the environment movement and other key sectors as we analyse what sustainability can mean for our coasts and our creatures of the deep. Thursday 4th December 2008, 10.00am – 4.00pm Enterprise House, 136 Greenhill Rd, Unley [100m west of Bus Stop 1, Unley Rd] Featuring Keynote Speaker Elvira Poloczanska Research Scientist CSIRO Marine & Atmospheric Research and a panel of representatives from the local government, business, fishing and environment sectors Background SA’s peak environmental organisation, the Conservation Council of South Australia is developing the green movement’s blueprint for environmental action in SA. We are analysing South Australian environmental policy in six areas, all in the context of a changing climate. Do you want to hear other views or share your own? For each policy review, we will host a Summit to present our draft findings and listen to the perspectives of people from outside of the environment movement. The findings of all six reviews, incorporating your feedback, will be published in 2009. CCSA acknowledges funding support from the Environment and Conservation Portfolio. |
