Membership of the Conservation Council is open to organisations

Organisations can join in the Conservation Council as:-

  1. A member organisation
  2. An associate organisation
  3. A 'Friend of the Conservation Council

Benefits of Organisation Membership

Opportunity for exchange of information and network with other environment and conservation organisations.

Assistance with lobbying and representation of conservation issues that concern you, to politicians, media, the public and industry.

Active promotive of membership and aims to the community.

Access to the Conservation Centre, with a vast range of facilities and services including

 

  • meeting spaces

     

  • full range of audio/visual equipment for use

     

  • comprehensive conservation library

     

  • website construction and linkage to CCSA website

     

  • photocopying

     

  • access to office information systems, upon booking

     

  • display area

     

  • a permanent mailing address

     

  • space for promotion of membership

A copy of "Briefs" the regular newsletter of the Conservation Council

Attendance to quarterly Council meetings with guest speakers and receipt of regular mail outs of information

Involvement in Council working groups on a wide array of issues, with input into policy formation

Adding the weight of your organization to the states peak voice on environment matters

Eligibility

Member Organisation

To be eligible as a member organisation of the Conservation Council of South Australia your organization needs to :-

 

  • be not-for-profit

     

  • be incorporated

     

  • have a membership of at least 20 South Australia residents

     

  • have objectives and policies consistent with CCSA's objects and methods (see section 7 of the CCSA Constitution)

Member organisations are entitled to nominate

3 voting representatives at Council if its membership exceeds 200 members resident in South Australia

2 voting representatives at Council if its membership exceeds 100 members resident in South Australia

1 voting representatives at Council if its membership is less than 100 members resident in South Australia

Associate organisation

To be eligible as a Associate organization of the Conservation Council of South Australia your organization needs to :-

 

  • be not-for-profit

     

  • have a membership of at least 20 South Australia residents

     

  • have objectives and activities that include some aspects of conservation or environment protection

Associate organisation, regardless of their size are able to nominate a total of one representative to Council. This representative will be able to participate in discussions at Council meeting but will not have any voting rights.

Note: An organization whose primary purpose is as a political party will not be eligible for affiliation as a Member or Associate organization (refer to clause 7.2.4 of the Constitution)

Process

Your membership application will be considered by Council at one of its quarterly meetings. You are entitled to send a representative to speak to the application at the meeting. Upon receipt of your application, we will advise you of when you application will be considered.
