Planning tools have been developed to further assist local government, landholders, land advisers, property planners and developers in their endeavours to better understand the importance of Fleurieu Peninsula Swamps and Emu-wrens to ensure management decisions do not adversely impact these unique birds and ecological communities.

These tools include: -

• A booklet entitled “ Protecting Fleurieu Peninsula Swamps and the Mount Lofty Ranges Southern Emu-wren” which delineates the importance and key attributes of swamps and Emu-wrens and how to manage them without detrimental impacts

• Development guidelines providing advice on whether activities within and around swamps and other emu-wren habitat may require referral under the EPBC Act and what information the EPBC Unit may require to make decisions on development applications and

• A mapping tool (in a digital, layered PDF) which identified areas of known and potential swamps and emu-wren habitat.
